Cyril was great to work with! We wanted a lot in a small footprint. And, we needed a quick turn-around time. RCM translated our vision quickly. We were pleasantly surprised at how close the first draft was to what we wanted. Cyril's experience paid off in the initial draft, but also in working out the small discrepancies between my husband and me. Cyril's solutions made both of us feel like we were making good decisions. Mr Courtois, and RCM Cad were outstanding in their interest and enthusiasm for my project.
Their attention to detail, and receptiveness to both my questions, and changes were superb.
In today’s society, customer service is an oft mentioned but rarely found trait, in my opinion, their customer service was second to none.
Mr Courtois made himself available at all times to me, I had his work, home, and cabin e-mail addresses, as well as all three phone numbers.
After leaving a message for him, via any one of those contact methods, I rarely waited longer than one hour for a response.
Gemma, one of his business partners, with whom I also dealt was similarly very helpful and available.
I do not have experience with home designers, this being my first foray into building my own home, but by every measure I use in all other aspects of my life, these were excellent people, and an outstanding company to conduct business with.

After almost a year of looking at plans we finally had a good idea of what we wanted. We decided to engage RCM CAD and Cyril to design our cabin based on the quality of work visible on the web. If you look closely you will see Cyril and RCM CAD's work all over the web being used by a number of log builders. From the very first day Cyril was fabulous to work with. We were looking to design a relatively small cabin that was both functional on the inside and beautiful on the outside from every direction. Cyril took our ideas and transformed them into something even better than we dreamed. We had animated drawings of our plans, mostly complete, in less than a week. It is amazing how close those very first pictures were to the final product. I can't imagine the process going any better than it did and would recommend RCM CAD design to anyone.

Especially your treatment of the design to accommodate the height restrictions of the area was impressive. Even more, the design of the concrete basement of the house has been excellent.

We started to work with Cyril at R.C.M Cad design drafting on the basis of their beautiful plans, found on the internet and recommendations of serious of log home builders in Canada. We started our cooperation having quite a precise plan in our minds, but after some discussions with Cyril, we completely changed our ideas and decided for his award winning design Hemlock. It was a decision we never regretted.
Since we live in Europe, we were a little bit concerned how our cooperation on the changes of the design would look like, but were amazed with every single step.
Cyril and his team have been very professional all the way; their work was outstanding, prepared in a very reasonable time frame, with a special artistic approach, taking home building to a whole new level. Our local architects were impressed on the architectural approach and final realization of the plans.
They were also one of the kindest and most understanding enterprises we have ever cooperated with. They have a rather unique approach to what they do.

From the start I was skeptical about long distance design services. However, I learned very quickly that what I had to give up on distance was compensated for by your experience, patience, and skill. You took my hand sketched floor plans and got into a CAD schematic in one pass. I was really impressed! Further, what is even more impressive is that the original schematic is not all that different from what was finally drawn and constructed.
Our challenges were many; a daunting county plan approval process, a snow load of 250 pounds/square foot, a small site requiring a vertical 3 story solution, a stacked masonry fireplace, uncommon 18 courses of logs, a project with a budget and a schedule destined for catastrophe.
The original design is still intact. The cabin is beautiful; a true work of art.
You and Gemma served me well and I am very grateful.

Who says building your own custom log home has to be a headache?
On the contrary, it can be an exciting and enjoyable experience. All you need is one star player on your team. That's what I found when I was introduced to RCM CAD Design and Drafting by my log contractor.
I truly do have something to be thankful about because my project could have easily been compromised by bureaucratic zealots and misdirected ancillary consultants, had it not been for Cyril and his crew.
I began with an idea for a modest 2300 square foot home
that I wanted to build in the foothills of Rancho Cucamonga in Southern California.
I approached several architects locally, and none wanted to touch my project if logs were involved. Then, despite initial assurances, my plans for a log home were ultimately rejected by a very fussy City Planning Department. Moreover, the consultants that I later hired to take the project through the city had no real interest in building the type of home I wanted. They just wanted to finish a "whatever" plan in order to clear me from their plate of responsibilities.
This is where RCM Cad Design and Drafting stepped forward and kept my project and presence of mind on track.
The drew my custom log home exactly as I wanted and made suggestions to improve the project. My initial worries that long distance relationship with their Canadian location might be cumbersome proved baseless, as I received my plans with a CD 3 Dimensional prototype within just two weeks of contacting them. Then, when the city rejected the log home that they had initially drawn for me, and transformed it into a hybrid combining a city-mandated-stucco-structure and an expressive-interior-log-accent-design-with-interior-log-walls. Their hybrid design really salvaged my dreams and allayed my anxiety.
As my project proceeded, the difference between RCM and everyone else involved in the planning of my home could not have been more stark. RCM treated me and my project with respect, while the city planners and consultants placed no value on my dreams nor sensitivity for my dilemma.
This is what set RCM apart form all others - their understanding of importance of respect is manifested in many ways. First, they were always courteous. Believe me, I made many
changes and many phone calls, and they never made me talk to a machine nor did they ever keep me waiting on hold on the telephone. Also, they never made me feel foolish about any of the changes that I made on my plans. That's respect!
I always had the feeling that they wanted me to get the kind of home that I really wanted.
This showed respect for my dreams. real respect. And even when I wasn't sure what I wanted, the made design suggestions that clarified my thinking. My 2300 sq.ft. home expanded to 2800 sq.ft. They took the time to get me there.
When people listen to you carefully, they show you respect. This is how the got the details of my house correct. And this is how they got the relationship correct. And just like a log home, that's the real thing.

We were so pleased to locate you after going through a previously bad experience with one of the brand name log home companies who offered
"design service". As novice buyers looking to become log home owners, we had to learn the hard way that those so-called design services were far inferior in quality and craftsmanship, limited in scope and were specifically geared toward a design that worked merely for the purpose of buying there logs. We received your roof plans for our home. As always, your work is superbly crafted and on time. Thank you for such a professional product.
Along those lines, I have to tell you that I was pouring over our house plans today, coloring in flooring, thinking about final lighting, and basically dreaming about what a wonderful home this is going to be.
Contemplating the details of our home, it struck me as to what a fine job you did for us. There is hidden creativity everywhere. The architectural interest that you have designed into this home is simple but at the same time nothing short of majestic. The ridge poles, purlins and trusses you integrated into our ceilings alone will give each room the feeling that the ceiling is floating in air. From the outside the home is so balanced, so symmetrical, that it will appear to have grown there.
We can't wait to move in.
Cyril, I have learned through this process that designing and building a log home is not a simple thing. There are structural and mechanical problems that the solid wall of the log home presents that other types of construction do not encounter. You found simple but astute solutions for plumbing problems, window placement, and roof lines that those who tour our home will never see or truly appreciate. I guess that is the hallmark of a great
design.
When choosing a log package provider and designer, we were bombarded with offers. Everybody we talked to had the best logs, the best construction, the best designers. We probably visited 20 homes, either finished or under construction. At one time we must have had 200 pounds of brochures and floor plans! I kid you not, it was almost overwhelming. You have made the process easy, enjoyable, rewarding and FUN!
This will be the last house we ever
build. When you build something for the rest of your life, it had better be strong and special. This house will be strongly special.

If you are reading this, I assume it is because you are contemplating having Cyril with RCM Cad Design and Drafting design your new home.
Possibly it would be helpful in making up your mind if you were aware of the experience I had working with Cyril.
I began working with Cyril in March of this year after completing a lengthy search for the log company I wanted to build my vacation home. Cyril was patient, helpful, full of excellent suggestions and a pleasure to work with. On every occasion he followed through with his promises and even went out of his way to help me with more than his job entailed. He's
helped me locate suppliers for the materials I needed to complete my home and frequently offered ideas to help me reduce the cost of my home without sacrificing the look I wanted. While I suppose there is no way to tackle a project of this magnitude without a few missteps, they were truly minor and few in nature and on the rare occasions they did occur, Cyril never made excuses or passed the buck. He simply went about resolving the problem fairly and promptly.
He always returned my calls
and I never called when he wasn't in a good mood and a pleasure to speak with. I don't know what else you could ask for, but if you still have a concern I could help you with, feel free to drop me a letter and I'll be happy to try to answer your concerns.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for assisting us in the design of our home. I must say, initially I was a little hesitant to work with you due to the international border, and not knowing whether or not you would be designing to the requirements / codes of the USA and Colorado. There were however no changes required by my local engineer except those generated at my request. The plans made it through the building department in less than three weeks, which is quick for
around here.
I would also like to thank you for going out of your way to meet with Bob our log builder. The fact that you were comfortable with him and pleased with the quality of their work went a long way towards alleviating our concern in deciding to use them. You may not be aware of this, but they are currently up to the second floor joist level. Bob called the other day and was very complimentary of the design. He said that not only have people been stopping in and
asking questions, but that his crew is also excited about working on this project.
Lastly, thank you for your patience in working with us and for the speed in which you produced the documents. We made three revisions to the floor plans, and still from start to finish, plans in hand, we were under two months.

I had the pleasure to work with Cyril on the design of a vacation log home. After researching designer candidates, I decided to go with Cyril for the following reasons:
- Cyril offered the best price
- Cyril's web page offered several examples of his work
- I liked the style of Cyril's designs
- Cyril seemed very knowledgeable and answered all my questions
Throughout the design process, I was very pleased with the level of attention Cyril gave to my design. He worked closely with my log
supplier, and my engineer. Both were very impressed with the quality and completeness of Cyril's work. John (my engineer) even said "these are the most complete plans I have ever reviewed." The plans include lots of additional construction notes and details that are very useful. They also include several drawing sections and a 3 dimensional view of the log walls, roof and supporting structures.
Cyril provides lots of opportunities to make design changes. First,
I received the preliminary floor plans for review. Then, once these were modified and approved, I was sent a 3 dimensional model of the house on CD-ROM. After the final plans were printed on vellum and shipped to me. I was still allowed to make changes and corrections for no additional charge. Finally, Cyril worked with the engineer to add local building code details to the drawings and sent the revised drawings for final approval, again for no additional charge.
I have a
good friend Dave, who is in the process of building a house. He has not been happy with his architect. When I compare his experience to mine, I realize how good Cyril really is. Dave's architect was more expensive, was difficult to contact, did not respond to all his questions, charged extra for modifications, did not make all the modifications requested and produced an inferior, less complete set of plans. Now that the plans are complete, Dave does not feel comfortable calling the architect
with additional construction questions. On the other hand, I feel very welcome to contact Cyril with additional questions and I know he will respond in a timely fashion.
So, to sum it up, Cyril is an outstanding designer/draftsman, offers excellent customer service and a very competitive price. I am very happy to recommend him. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns about choosing Cyril as your designer/draftsman.

Hello,
We are nearing the end of the planning stage and are to soon begin the construction phase of our
new log home. I've spent more than two years researching the Log Home business prior to selecting Cyril of RCM Cad Design to turn our sketches of our dream log home into construction drawings.
Cyril took my architectural sketches and, using his CAD system, turned them into industry standard construction drawings. Along the way he suggested changes to enhance the design both structurally and aesthetically. The structural changes we agreed with and Cyril was very
patient and understanding about our reluctance to change some styling elements, i.e. , he did not force his ideas on us.
Our Structural Engineer added very little to Cyril's work and admired the quality and completeness of Cyril's drawings.
During the entire design process Cyril was never hard to contact. He responded to my phone messages and E-mails right away. Whenever he had a question regarding our Log Home he was in my face immediately, he never
let the design process languish.
I find Cyril very personable and easy to work with. He listens and advises without patronizing.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,
We hired Cyril to formalize the sketch plan we had in mind for our log home after seeing his work at the Denver Log Home Show in May of 1999. We liked the quality of his work and the variety of graphic depiction's he could provide. During the days that followed, there were numerous exchanges of ideas between us and Cyril. These changes
required time, however we always found Cyril receptive to ideas and questions. I especially appreciated the fact that I could always contact
Cyril with a single call or at least get a call back on short notice. The plans we received from Cyril took minimum time for approval and permitting from our County Planning Board.
I recommend Cyril's work to any one looking for a designer and draftsmen whose concise, efficient, timely and a pleasure
to work with.
